 Paraguay advances to quarters with 3-3 tie against Venezuela

Paraguay tied Venezuela 3-3 to take the lead in Group B and advance to the quarterfinals.

Just five minutes into the game, Venezuela got on the board as Jose Salomon Rondon took a shot from outside the box and buried it to the back of the net.

Paraguay tied the game in the 32nd minute as a header by Paraguay hit the post and bounced around the box before Antolin Alcaraz hit it into goal.

Venezuela came out stronger in the second half, as Paraguay lost a lot of energy after getting the tying goal.

In the 63rd minute, Nelson Valdes shot off a deflection and Lucas Barrios pushed the ball in with his chest for the second goal to put Paraguay up 2-1.

Paraguay extended its lead in the 85th minute off a superb header to the near post by Cristian Riveros off a free kick.

Nicolas Fedor closed the lead in the 90th minute with a goal from a shot in the box to make the score 3-2.

In the 93rd minute, Venezuela finished the miraculous comeback with a header goal by Grendy Perozo to make the score 3-3.

With the result Paraguay qualifies to the quarterfinals, while the final positions of the group will still depend on the game between Ecuador and Brazil.
