Great news for fans of Mexico. Retired Olympic medal-winning diver Tatiana Ortiz announced Tuesday that she is training for her return to competition.

Ortiz, who along with Paola Espinosa won a bronze medal in 10 meter synchronized diving at the Beijing Games in 2008, has her sights set on the 2012 London Olympics.

"I have been training for six weeks and I'm looking to make the team for the World Championships and then fight for my spot on the Olympic Games of London. My body has reacted well and I am improving little by little," said Ortiz on Tuesday in Mexico City.

Ortiz retired after the 2008 Olympics when she married boxer Carlos Cuadras. But now she is ready to rejoin her partner in the upcoming Mexican National Swimming Championship.

"It's like riding a bicycle," Ortiz added. "Me and Paola communicate very well. It will be difficult to have a starring role in the Worlds, but in this sport anything can happen."

The Swimming World Championships will take place July 16-31 in Shanghai, China. Ortiz and Espinosa will also be training with their Chinese coach, Ma Jin, in order to be ready for the Pan American Games in October in Guadalajara.

"It's been tough, simply coming back is a huge challenge," Ortiz admitted. "But I am motivated to compete at home in the individual and synchronized dives."
