Volleyball is a sport that is played between two teams consisting of six athletes. The objective is to make the ball touch the floor on the opponent’s side of the court using only one’s hands. The net 2.43 m (men) and 2.24 m (women) divides both sides. Punctuation is divided into the best of five sets (the first to three sets wins), where one needs to reach 25 points.
Since its debut in 1964, volleyball has been present at all the Olympic Games. The former Soviet Union was the maximum winner with seven gold medals. Brazil and three other countries each have one. In the London Games, 12 teams will compete in the men and women’s tournaments. The matches will take place in the exhibition center at Earls Court.
