The event is based on the different control and command of a horse. The sport has existed for over 2,000 years when the Greeks developed training to prepare animals for war. The equestrian competition has been part of the Olympic Games since its second edition in 1900 and is divided into three categories: dressage, Evening, and Jumping.
The entire competition takes place throughout three days, with the jump, dressage, cross country and combined races. In the jump, the jockey has to go through a predetermined circuit in the smallest amount possible, without pushing over obstacles. The combined race includes a series of movements executed by the horse like choreography, in response to subtle instructions given by the rider.
