The origin of diving comes from the XVIII century with references to gymnastics and with the Germans and Swedes the first to do so in the water. The intention is to end with injuries, common when it was done in a gymnasium.
There are four different events in diving, for men and women. The jumps can be made from a 10-meter platform or 3-meter springboard. In both the intent is to enter the water with elegance. Since the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, synchronized swimming has been incorporated, with both athletes jumping in at the same time.
