About the sport

It is part of the Olympic quarter that originated the 1896 Athens Games. Now there are four specialties: road, track, mountain and BMX. While road takes place outdoors, track takes place in a velodrome, under the categories of sprint (individual and team), time trial, pursuit (individual and team), keirin and scratch.

In mountain bike, the circuits are established in nature with complicated and irregular paths. It takes place in the following categories: cross country, downhill, endurance, and slalom. BMX, which will have its second appearance at the Games, is based on motocross: it takes place on a track with curves, jumps, and ramps.
